Music played during most physical funeral services has complimentary public-performance cover. Recording, copying, private streaming and catch-up viewing can require additional permissions. The exact answer depends on the music, event, delivery method and the licence held by the business delivering the stream.
Funeral-service providers can check OneMusic Australia's Funeral Directors licence options. Its separate Streaming Licence covers password-protected live, on-demand and time-delayed funeral streaming within its terms. The free public-performance cover for the physical service is not the same as recording or streaming cover.
Videographers and businesses producing authorised private-event videos can check APRA AMCOS' Domestic Use Video Licence. It covers many private events, including password-protected/private-link delivery, subject to its current terms. It does not cover public uploads or social media use.
Church streaming licences can be catalogue- and condition-specific. A worship licence should not be assumed to cover every commercial recording selected for a wedding, baptism or other ceremony. Confirm coverage with the church's licensing provider before streaming.
Do not treat a private-stream licence as permission to post recordings publicly, use social media, or publish promotional clips with commercial music. Those uses can require different licences or direct rights-holder permission.
